Poe, operated by Quora, Inc., is a platform that connects users to third-party AI model providers and bot developers. While users retain nominal ownership of their content, the terms grant Quora a broad, perpetual, transferable license, and — critically — user chat contents, uploaded files, and 'memory' are shared with third-party AI model providers and developers who may store and use that data to train their models. The policy explicitly warns users not to share sensitive personal information and provides no opt-out from third-party training use, no enterprise/business data-processing tier, no compliance certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, etc.), and minimal disclosure of security controls. This combination makes Poe unsuitable for professional, enterprise, or regulated-industry use with proprietary or sensitive data absent a separate negotiated contract.
